Stephen Fernands, Board President
Representing: Class B Residential Members
Stephen Fernands has served on the Energy Cooperative Board since November
2000. Fernands is a leader in the area of financial consulting in the
deregulating energy market. Since the start of electric deregulation in the
United States he has been fostering a more robust competitive market, building off his background in
economics and experience with quantitative
decision-making. Fernands founded Customized Energy Solutions to provide the
analysis and tools for all parties to benefit from the fruits of a
competitive marketplace.
Fernands has developed load profiling and tariff analysis products for the
PJM and New York markets. These products have enabled clients to clearly see
the savings that they will realize if they were to participate in customer
choice. Fernands has spoken in various PJM Office of the Interconnection
forums in favor of furthering the competitive nature of the energy market.
He's worked extensively with leading consulting firms in developing
tools and services that foster a competitive marketplace.
Stephen Fernands received his B.S. in Economics from Pennsylvania State
University and MBA in Finance from Drexel University. He is an active
participant in the Pennsylvania-Jersey-Maryland Office of the
Interconnection (PJM-OI), the New York ISO, the New England ISO, a member of
the International Association of Energy Economics, a member of the Power
Marketing Association and has worked with MAPSA and other energy groups in
crafting policy. Prior to entering the electric industry, Stephen worked with
economic development initiatives. |
