Solar Power

How do I get started?

Do you want to produce electricity or hot water or both?

What amount of south-facing roof or yard area is available for solar panels? For optimum efficiency, solar panels should face due south with no obstructing trees or buildings.

How new is your roof?

If you’re due to replace it, consider coordinating the new roof with installation of the solar panels to assure a tight installation.  Some companies are now making solar roofing tiles as an option for homeowners.

Do you want an uninterruptible power supply (batteries)?

If so, are you willing to commit to regularly topping off and testing the capacity of your batteries?

How much electricity do you use?

More efficient appliances and lighting can increase the value of your solar system. Consider replacing old inefficient appliances before you invest in solar energy.
